Cloudless Sulphur (Phoebis sennae)

This lovely yellow butterfly is one of the larger sulphurs. The males are completely yellow while the females have a darker black border on the upper side of the wings and can vary in color from yellow to white. Unlike other butterflies who bask in the sunlight, the cloudless sulphur usually rests with its wings closed. It is a fast flier and seems to be more attracted to red and purple colored flowers. These butterflies are a delight to have in any garden.
