Like a hang glider circling high above the earth, the geometrically triangular wings of the Hoary Edge help this butterfly float gently through the garden. The fresh green colored caterpillar with a dark stripe and yellow spotting evolves into an amazing adult butterfly. The upper and lower sides of the wings are a deep brown, with orange spots decorating the topside of the wings. Nature’s grace takes flight when this creature is present. The most unique visual characteristic of the Hoary Edge is the full cottony-white spot on the underside of the wings near the hind section of the butterfly body. This butterfly will definitely catch your eye and add style to your garden.
