Parts of a Caterpillar

The caterpillar, or larva, stage of a butterfly’s life can sometimes include as many striking colors and designs as the butterfly itself.

During this vulnerable time, caterpillars may use disguises, camouflages or threatening poses to keep from becoming a meal for a hungry predator.
