The “mighty oak” is just what its name suggests. The oak is a native, broad-leafed deciduous tree with a full range of outstanding fall colors of yellows, oranges and reds.
Some varieties have a potential to spiral upward to 100 feet in height at maturity and spreads a dense canopy between 85 to 135 feet wide.
Oaks produce acorns which are an excellent source of food for wildlife.
The Pin Oak is a smaller variety that reaches 75 feet high and 40 feet wide. It has a pyramidal growth habit and is one of the faster growing oaks (12-15 feet over 5-7 years). This tree is dense and twiggy and has a unique branching pattern.
Keep in mind if planting an Oak that it needs ample room to grow and develop.
