Panic Grass (Panicum spp.)

This beautiful clumping grass is tall with lovely airy spikelets of flowers. It also grows nicely in many environments depending on the species. Many skipper caterpillars enjoy this grass as larval food. It is also used frequently for either overwintering on or underneath. Many birds also enjoy the seeds from this grass as well as small mammals use it as protection throughout the winter months. This is the perfect grass to add to prairies or garden borders.
